Pizarro Ave. on Ft. Morgan
User: ggsunbelt
You would not believe what we had to do this afternoon!  My road at the rental property down Ft. Morgan was flooded and I had to get it ready for renters after having prepared it for Gustav!  And... they booked it before Gustav and they live in Baton Rouge.  They almost cancelled but said it would be a nice break ... and THEY WOULD HAVE ELECTRICITY!!!
I tried to get (drive) to the house.
I had my door open and my uncle was watching on his side and when the water got less than an inch from the door I had to start backing up.

I tried to find them another place to stay
but the only place available near by… didn’t’ have electricity… yes this was down Ft. Morgan today.

So…my uncle said… what the heck lets park and walk it!   I said... you know we have alegators down there!  But we did it anyway.  We waded through water up to our calves carrying my cleaning supplies and a laundry basket full of the clean linens.
The wind was so hard it made it difficult to walk – not to mention the fact that we had taken our shoes off to go through the water were catching every rock or sandspur under our feet.   But… we did it.

The renters showed up right after I finished cleaning and my uncle and friend had undone the Gustav preparations and gotten everything back on the decks.
They had an SUV so they made it through the water.  I was so worried this would spoil their vacation!

But all’s well that ends well.  :)

Attached are a picture of my road near morgantown and a view of the gulf from my deck.
